About Us
Doncaster Astronomical Society (DAS) in partnership with the Austerfield Field Study Centre, has in the grounds of the study centre, their own observatory consisting of two domes, crammed with leading edge optical instruments. Members of the society participate in visual and photographic astronomy and cater for members of all ages and abilities and take an active role in the education of school children, scouts and other groups with regards to astronomy and science.
Being a Society member, brings many other benefits, including observing on clear nights at our Observatory, use of the best of amateur solar equipment and being able to borrow telescopes.
For non-members, if you would like to visit us to see what we’re all about, your first two meetings are free of charge. Membership is open to to all ages. If you are 17 years of age or below, an adult must accompany you.

The Study Centre is located in the village of Austerfield, on the A614 between Finningley and Bawtry, and if coming from the north, Finningley, it is on the right, 150 metres after the 30MPH speed sign in the village. Here is a google map reference 53.44724, -1.00612

PLEASE NOTE: There are dates when using the observatories at Austerfield Study Centre is not advised owing to school-children camping onsite, these dates are available on request of the DAS committee members.
