Astro Images 2026

DAS Members Astro Imaging 2026

A page for all those budding astrophotographers out there to show us the images they have captured on their own equipment or whilst using the DAS dome telescopes. It would be most useful to supply some information on each picture for example, Who took the image?, what is it of? and the date taken. If you can also supply details of the scope and settings as well as the camera used that would be even better.

Do you have some images you’d like to share? Our planets, passing Comets, deep space, NLCs …, Contact the WebMaster by email.

The Moon at first quarter, 28 Nov 2025, Telescope:270mm SLR lens and Camera: Monochrome CCD (Peter Lloyd)

The Moon and Copernicus crater, 98 Km diameter, 2 Nov 2025, Telescope: Meade 10-inch LX200 SCT2 Camera: Monochrome CCD (Peter Lloyd)

The Moon: Northern part of Mare Humorum. The large crater is Gassendi which is largely filled with lava. Hoever the ring wall is complete so this has not flowed in from the Mare but must have welled up from below the crater itself. Telescope : 10-inch Meade Lx200 SCT, Camera: Monochrome CCD (Peter Lloyd)

The Moon: Three Craters, North to South, Ptolemaeus, Alphonsus and Arzachel. A nice group near the centre of the Moon. 28 Nov 2025, Telescope: 10-inch Meade LX200 SCT, Camera: Monochrome CCD (Peter Lloyd)

The Sun: A string of sunspot groups passed across the Sun on 2nd December 2025. The Sun was reaching the maximum in its 11-year cycle of activity, Telescope: 10-inch Meade LX200 SCT, Monochrome CCD (Peter Lloyd)

The Sun: Despite being at the peak of its activity there were not many sunspots at this time. Sunspot groups are numbered and I have labelled the close-up pictures with their numbers.14 Feb 2026, Telescope: Whole Sun, 270mm SLR lens, Sunspots, 10-inch Meade LX200, Cameras: Whole Sun, Colour CCD camera, Sunspots, Monochrome CCD Camera with OIII narrow-band filter. Both systems fitted with full-aperture Solar filters (Peter Lloyd)
